The Hare and Hounds operates a licensed rural campsite located on the paddocks at the rear of the Pub and is available for tented camping from Easter until 31 October each year. The site is ideally suitable for those campers who enjoy camping in rural surroundings and in close proximity to a 16th Century Pub. We regret that we are unable to accept caravans or camper vans.
The facilities include combined toilets/washrooms with hot and cold water and a skip for rubbish disposal. Coin operated showers with both hot and cold water are available for a small additional charge. The campsite does not have access to an electricity supply or refrigeration facilities for food.
We regret that due to the extensive woodland that adjoins the site and the need to reduce any possible risk of fire, we do not allow open fires or disposable barbecues. Normal camping gas cookers are acceptable. With a little thought we hope campers realise that this rule is designed to protect our local environment and the safety of local residents and those using the campsite.
Newspapers and groceries are available from the nearby village store in Iden. Jempson's independent supermarket is only a short drive away in Peasmarsh.
A limited bus and taxi service operates through the area. The nearest railway station is Rye.
The charge is £16 per tent per night for up to four persons sharing a tent. An additional supplement of £4 per night is payable for each person in excess of four persons. Coin operated showers with both hot and cold water are available for a small additional charge of 50 pence per shower.
Advance booking is advisable during bank holidays and the peak summer holiday period.
