THE PUB AND RESTAURANT
The Hare and Hounds is a 16th Century Freehouse with authentic beamed bars, a large open inglenook fire place and a separate dining room. The Inn is set in three acres of grassland and situated in the small Sussex hamlet of Rye Foreign, 2 miles north of Rye on the main A268 road.
There are extensive landscaped beer gardens and paddocks with ample off road car parking available. For those who enjoy a game of Petanque (Boules), the Pub has a piste, which is available for use by our customers.
THE LOCATION
We are ideally located for visits to the historic towns of Battle, Rye, Tenterden and Winchelsea. The seaside town of Hastings and St. Leonard’s-on-Sea is nine miles distant with nearby Bodiam Castle well worth a visit. Camber and Camber Sands are also nearby. For those interested in railways, enjoy a visit to the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway at Northiam or Tenterden or the famous Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch miniature railway.
THE BEERS
We offer a wide selection of traditional hand pulled real ales, lagers, ciders and stout. And well known brand spirits and aperitifs. Harvey’s Sussex Best Bitter and seasonal ales are available together with a changing selection of real ales from other Brewers.
THE MENU
We offer at competitive prices a wide selection of traditional home cooking plus a selection of "Daily Specials" and seasonal specialities. A small selection of children’s meals is available. A traditional Sunday Roasts with a selection of at least six fresh vegetables is available.
